SATURDAY, AUGUST 29, 2026 · KVCC GROUNDS, WHEATFIELD
Neighbor Day
A free day of fun for the whole neighborhood.
Saturday, August, 29 · 11 AM to 2 PM · Free · KVCC Grounds
YOU’RE INVITED
Pull up a lawn chair.
Bring the whole family.
Neighbor Day is our gift to Wheatfield and the whole Kankakee Valley: a free afternoon of food, games, and good company on the church grounds. It’s also the day we throw open the doors on our newly renovated kids’ space. No cost, no catch, no pressure. Just come be our neighbor.
THE GOOD STUFF
What’s happening that day
KVCC
🏁
Pinewood Derby
Build a car, race it down the track. Two categories — Fastest Car and Best Design — with prizes for the top finishers, a Pastor’s Pick, and a ribbon for every racer. (More on how to enter just below.)
🐐
Petting Zoo
Real farm animals to meet and pet, brought by our friends at The FARM. A sure favorite for the little ones.
🎈
Bounce House
Wide open and ready to jump, with an attendant on hand the whole time so parents can relax.
🌭
Free Lunch
Hot dogs off the grill, chips, drinks, and popsicles to beat the heat. Lunch is on us!
🎨
Kids’ Space Open House
Take a tour of our newly renovated kids’ ministry space. We’ll gather to dedicate it together around noon.
And plenty of good company
The best part of the day is the neighbors you’ll meet. Come hungry, come curious, come as you are.
START YOUR ENGINES
Want to race in the derby?
The Pinewood Derby is the heart of the day, and anyone can enter. Here’s the whole thing in three steps.
Grab a kit
Kits are free and are available for pick-up at the church after August 9. Want one? Message us on Facebook or catch Pastor Adam at the church.
Build your car
Two ways to win: Fastest Car and Best Design. Make it quick. Make it wild. Make it yours. Parents, this one’s a team sport.
Race it
Weigh-in opens at 11 AM on Neighbor Day. Heats run all day. Awards, the Pastor’s Pick, and a ribbon for every racer come at 1:30 PM.
MEET OUR FRIENDS
The FARM
Those petting-zoo animals come courtesy of The FARM, a Christ-centered mentoring ministry over in Hebron. They walk alongside K-12 students facing anxiety, bullying, and hard seasons, using farm animals, gardening, and honest work to build real relationships that last.
Their whole heart fits in four words:
Freed
Adopted
Rooted
Matured
If your family could use a mentor, or you’d love to be one, stop by their table on Neighbor Day and say hello.

GOOD TO KNOW
A few questions, answered
Is it really free?
Every bit of it. The food, the derby, the bounce house. All of it is our gift to you. Only bring your wallet if you want to leave it in the car.
Do I need to RSVP?
You don’t have to, but it sure helps us know how many hot dogs to grill. A quick RSVP on our Facebook event is all it takes.
What if it rains?
We move the food, the derby, and the fun indoors. The bounce house is the only thing that has to sit out a storm.
What should I bring?
Just your family and maybe a lawn chair. We’ve got the rest covered.
Where do I park?
There’s plenty of room right here on the grounds, with people on hand to guide you in.
RSVP so we know how many hot dogs to grill
COMING? LET US KNOW
Tap over to our Facebook event and let us know you’re coming. Then swing by the church to get you’re derby kit. See you on August 29. We’ll be watching for you.
